Allowing children to make mistakes and to learn from these mistakes is a much better choice than trying to avoid them.

Reason No.1: Children may feel that their parents are limiting their freedom in the name of helping them avoid mistakes, then they may think that their parents don’t trust them. It’s bad for the relationship.

Reason No.2: Learning from mistakes is actually a very important part of education. Mistakes make people suffer, and the suffering will be way more (way是副词，这里相当于much) persuasive than parents’ lectures in many cases.

In some nations, students do not pay any tuition to attend universities. However, in other nations, students must pay to attend universities, and the cost of university tuition can be high. Do you believe that all nations should use taxes (more collected from citizens by the government) to fully fund universities so that students can study for free? Why or why not?【2020.9.13线下原题】

Statement: Using taxes to provide free college education is not a wise practice for most governments.

Paragraph 1: Once people know that they can pursue higher education at no cost at all, then they will be pouring into colleges and universities, which makes the campus over-burdened. (classrooms, libraries, dorms, parking lots)

Paragraph 2: Having too many students in the same classroom could also be bad news for professors, as their workload could be doubled or even tripled that way. Then they may have less patience for their students’ needs for help and instructions.

Paragraph 3: Using taxes to fund free education could also make tax payers upset, for many of them would feel that it is unfair to use their money to help individuals that they never know instead of building infrastructures that can benefit all.

Some people like to write notes and lists on paper to help themselves remember what daily tasks they need to complete. Others prefer to create electronic reminders for themselves on their phones or computers. Which do you think is better? Explain why.

Using electronic reminders to schedule everything is a better choice than using pen and paper. 

Reason NO.1: Handwriting is not as legible as fonts on cellphones, and since I could be in a rush when writing notes, using an electronic reminder makes it easier for me to recall everything at a latter time.

Reason NO.2: No one brings pen and paper everywhere, but we all carry our cellphones with us, so electronic reminders could be the only choice available in a lot of cases. Since it’s more likely to be available, it’s better.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People who do not work because they have enough money are rarely happy.

Paragraph 1: Since working provides people with opportunities to make friends with their co-workers and clients, those who are wealthy enough to live without having a job may find themselves lonely. 

Paragraph 2: Excelling at work brings people a great sense of achievement, which is not something money can buy. The recognition and appreciation we get from others at work are probably the most important reasons why many wealthy people who never need to worry about money still run some businesses of their own even if they are not profitable.

Paragraph 3: Working makes people have a relatively regular schedule, which is good for health both physically and mentally. (do not stay up very often, less likely to feel bored)
