同学们一直很怕托福听力中的专有名词，例如：Lechuguilla cave（龙舌兰洞），thaw lake（融沉湖）。

听不懂时，同学们就开始默念咒语：怎么还不结束？！然后疯狂记笔记！其实，专有名词后面都会有对应的解释。

而“熟词僻义”才是真正阻碍理解的难点之一。比如先看看下面这段对话：

虽然passage我们最常见的含义是“文章”，但是这个单词的本意应该是“通道”，来自于词根“pass”。而上文提及的“passage grave”叫做“通道式坟墓”。

再比如：

这道词汇题考查的就是project的熟词僻义“v. 投影，投射，放映”，所以选D。

熟词僻义甚至生义的频率越来越高

也逐渐成为托福考试中一个

非常重要的考点甚至拉分点
